Hot26, often referred to as "Bikram Yoga," is a set sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises traditionally practiced in a heated room. In the West, these postures are typically practiced in a room around 105°F with 40% humidity. However, it's important to understand that this therapeutic yoga sequence, rooted in the Ghosh Yoga lineage of Calcutta, was not originally practiced in heated rooms. The benefits of the practice remain just as powerful without artificial heat. If you do prefer to practice this sequence in heat and higher humidity, it is very popular for those practicing at home to practice in their bathroom with a humidifier and space heater in the space. You just need enough room for a mat!
Fun Fact: The postures themselves were not created by Bikram Choudhury; rather, he helped bring this traditional sequence to a broader audience; first in Japan and later in America.
Benefits of the Practice

It targets every major muscle group, internal organs, and systems in the body; improving strength, flexibility, balance, circulation, and focus. Though the sequence is designed as a beginner-level practice, there are dozens of variations and modifications available for each posture, offering a deep and evolving challenge even for experienced yogis. Whether you're new to yoga or have been practicing for years, hot26 provides a consistent, therapeutic framework to support lifelong health and vitality.
